Sea Cadets needs you!

Date published: 24 January 2013

Sea Cadets are looking for people with business minds and practical skills to help them inspire and guide their cadets. 14,000 young people take part in a range of exciting nautical activities every week, learning new skills that will give them a head start in life. To offer this great opportunity to many more young people we need volunteers like you to roll up their sleeves and help - and you don't have to be a boat owner or user to apply!

Sea Cadets not only trains cadets we can also help you so that you can guide cadets as they learn skills like engineering, sailing, navigation and seamanship. Volunteers need no experience just the drive to give young people the best possible head start in life through nautical adventure and fun.

You can volunteer to help cadets directly or you can get involved behind the scenes as part of a dedicated team who help with fundraising and managing the unit.

Fay Taylor, Commanding Officer of a local unit says: "Volunteering with Sea Cadets is very rewarding. We want to inspire young people and give them an environment where they can boost their confidence by learning lots of new skills, meet new friends and work as part of a team, skills that will help them throughout their lives. As a volunteer you can also gain vocational qualifications like the Institute of Leadership and Management or canoeing!"

Whether on land or at sea, Sea Cadets offers an environment where young people can find new confidence and inspiration. Across the UK 14,000 young people are challenging themselves and learning new skills through nautical adventure and fun. Help us to keep inspiring the next generation and giving them the best possible head start in life.
