Metrolink to Rochdale Town Centre

Date published: 25 December 2012

Easter 2013 work will begin to construct the overhead line equipment required along the route of the Rochdale town centre Metrolink extension. Later in the year, it is anticipated that the overhead lines will be electrified.

Once the line is electrified, businesses and residential property owners wishing to carry out work on their property near the Metrolink line must contact Metrolink to discuss the intended working methods. This is to ensure that any work carried out is done in a safe manner. The advice given by Metrolink relating to safe working methods near Metrolink is free.

It is unlikely that any maintenance or renovation work that business and residential property owners wish to carry out on their property, barring significant renovation works, will be affected by their proximity to the electrified overhead line equipment. However, some elements of work, such as the erection of scaffolding adjacent to the Metrolink line, may need to be undertaken overnight while the power to the overhead lines is switched off.
