Wardle High School student wins competition

Date published: 21 December 2012

Wardle High School student Poppy Lee has won a competition through Rochdale Council’s Skills Team’s ‘Future First’ event and has received a Blackberry Playbook.

Over 2000 pupils visited the Annual ‘Future First’ event at Rochdale Town in October to find out about all of the different options available when they leave school. The event, organised by Rochdale Council’s Skills Team, ran over 2 days and Wardle High School took students in order to allow them to make informed choices about their future.

Wardle High School took all of their Year 11 students to the event which was attended by various colleges, universities, training providers and forces, each offering guidance and information to students.

Every pupil who attended Future First was invited to complete an evaluation form to let the organisers know their thoughts on the event. All of the completed forms were then entered into a draw, the winner receiving a Blackberry Playbook tablet computer.

First out of the hat, and winner of the Blackberry Playbook, was Poppy Lee from Wardle High School and RMBC Skills Team member Andy Turner visited the school on Monday 10 December to present Poppy with her prize during assembly.

A delighted and stunned Poppy said “I never win anything!” as the prize was presented to her.
