Bumpy rides and hazardous pot holes could be a thing of the past for Rochdale drivers thanks to a £687,000 government grant.
Money is due to be paid over the course of the next two financial years, from 2013-15, for improvements like road resurfacing, bridge maintenance and repairing weather damage.
Conditions will be imposed to ensure the money is spent as it should be too.
The council must commit to publishing a short statement on their websites at the end of each financial year setting out where this additional funding was spent and what on.
The funding is in addition to an existing £3billion already being provided by the Government for road maintenance for the 2011-15 period.
