Shop worker chased off knife-wielding robber who demanded gold
Date published: 01 December 2012
A would-be robber entered a clothing shop and then demanded gold from a member of staff.
At about 5.30pm on 30 November 2012, the offender entered Z A Fashions on Ashfield Road, Rochdale.
He produced a knife and instead of demanding items from the store or cash from the till he made a demand for gold.
He was then chased off by the victim’s son onto Aubrey Street.
He is described as being at least 6ft tall and was wearing a black fleece jacket, balaclava and black trainers.
Detective Constable Claire Ramsden, of Rochdale CID, said: “The offender has produced a knife without hesitation and used it to threaten the victim.
“He was quite tall so if anyone saw a tall man dressed in predominantly dark clothing acting suspiciously in the area at around the time of the robbery I would be keen to hear from you.
“I would also appeal to anyone who thinks they know who this person is to contact us in complete confidence and help us get him locked up before he tries something similar again.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 4644, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
