Volunteers needed for disability event

Date published: 30 November 2012

Volunteers are needed for a special event which will demonstrate the challenges faced by people with disabilities in their daily lives.

The session at Alkrington Youth Club on 3 December (12 - 2pm) is being held to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and will provide the chance to experience what it is like to live with visual, mobility and communications disabilities.

As well as improving understanding of disability and mobilising support for the dignity, rights and well-being of people with disabilities, organisers are also seeking to raise awareness of the valuable contribution that people with disabilities can make to the community.

The day is being organised by Rochdale Borough Council’s Moving On Service which helps people with disabilities improve their skills to allow them to enter employment and take part in other meaningful activities.

The session takes place at Alkrington Youth Club, Hardfield Road, Middleton M24 1TQ on Monday 3 December (12 – 2pm).
