College supports childrens’ Christmas gifts appeal

Date published: 29 November 2012

Hopwood Hall College has offered to help an appeal aimed at helping disadvantaged youngsters this Christmas.

Key 103 Radio is running an appeal called Mission Christmas to help the City’s impoverished children; the station is saying “We want you to buy a gift and help make a sad Christmas a happy Christmas for a Manchester child.”

They appealed to organisations and businesses across the region to act as drop of points for gifts and so the College stepped forward.

Lena Leach, a tutor in the College’s Hair & Beauty department, organised this initiative after being moved by the appeal. She said “We put Christmas trees into our Middleton and Rochdale campus receptions every year, so I thought these would make perfect spots for local people to drop off their presents.”

The appeal is asking people to buy just one extra present this year (for any age of child) or else to donate any new and unwrapped gift they have.

If you live locally to either of the College’s campuses, please pop in and drop your gift off under the tree.
