Five charged after £500,000 worth of cannabis seized

Five people have been charged after £500,000 worth of cannabis was seized by Greater Manchester Police.

On 26 and 27 November 2012, officers executed warrants in the Salford, Bolton and Middleton areas under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Warrants were also executed at industrial premises at the Europa Business Park in Stoneclough, Bolton, and on Bute Street, Langworthy, Salford, from within which officers seized cannabis with a street value of about half a million pounds.

The following people were subsequently charged with conspiracy to supply cannabis:

David Donoghue (born 22/01/1981), Burton Walk, Trinity, Salford

Stephen Ashton (born 18/11/1959), Tucana Avenue, Salford

John Tyson (born 17/07/1966), Rosamond Drive, Trinity, Salford

Warren Barnes (born 04/01/1988), Mabels Brown, Kearsley, Bolton

Mark Sherratt (born 19/04/1984), Manchester Old Road, Middleton is charged with possession of Class A drugs and conspiracy to supply cannabis.

All five appeared before Manchester City Magistrates' Court on 28 November 2012 and were remanded into custody, to appear next on 12 December 2012.

Five other people arrested on suspicion of drug offences have been bailed pending further inquiries.
