Staff and pupils from Meanwood Primary School are celebrating after winning the top prize of £1,000 in the Rochdale Exchange ‘Rewards for Schools’ scheme.
Meanwood Primary School topped the leader board after their friends and family successfully collected the most tokens in the Rochdale Exchange Reward for Schools promotion.
Head Teacher at Meanwood Primary School, Sue Halliday commented: "We were thrilled to hear we had won the Rewards for Schools promotion at Rochdale Exchange shopping centre. We would like to thank all of our parents and friends for supporting us. We could not have won without them and we are looking forward to purchasing a number of books from local stores with our £1,000."
The lucky runners up were Healey Primary School who received a prize of £250 that they will be spending on new toys for ‘wet days’ when the children are unable to go outside on breaks due to rain.
Each of the 22 schools who entered the Rewards for Schools Scheme has also received a sports equipment kit to support their Physical Education lessons.
Centre manager, Lorenzo O’Reilly said: “We have been amazed and delighted at the commitment and enthusiasm of local teachers, pupils, and parents in supporting our ‘Reward for Schools’ promotion. It’s a pleasure to meet so many local children who are clearly happy in their school environment, and we are delighted to be able to give these pro-active local schools a much needed boost to school funds. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of our stores for participating in the promotion.”
