Political correctness attacked
Date published: 26 November 2012
Some Labour-run councils care more about political correctness than the welfare of children, claims local MEP Paul Nuttall.
His hard-hitting remarks come in the wake of news that council staff who failed to protect Rochdale youngsters from grooming by a sex ring are to face disciplinary action.
And hot on the heels of the disgrace over Rotherham social services taking three young children away from their foster parents because they are members of the UK Independence Party.
"It appears to me that these particular Labour-run councils care more about political correctness than the welfare and happiness of children," said Mr Nuttall, UKIP Deputy Leader.
"In Rotherham three little children who had happily settled in with their foster parents have been torn away from them because of their political views. Absolutely unbelievable. No suggestion they are bad parents just sensible UKIP supporters.
"The welfare of children should be paramount for council social services departments and they need to get their priorities sorted out. What happened to those vulnerable teenage girls in Rochdale is a disgrace and no stone must be left unturned in the investigation," said Mr Nuttall.
