Two people have been arrested after a stolen car collided with a wall.

During the evening of Tuesday 20 November 2012, two men approached a 43-year-old woman on the car park at Rochdale Infirmary as she got out of her car, a black Audi Q7.
The woman was punched in the face and the two men stole property and made off in her Audi Q7.

Later that evening, police saw the stolen vehicle. The driver of the car reversed at speed into it and then drove off.

A short pursuit ensued and a few minutes later, the car collided with a wall on Durham Street at the junction with Lincoln Street.

Two men travelling in the car suffered injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. One suffered a broken wrist and the other suffered a fractured ankle.

A 28-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were later arrested on suspicion of robbery and dangerous driving.

Superintendent John Graves from GMP's Rochdale division said: "Two people were arrested in connection with this incident, after a woman was assaulted and an expensive car was stolen in Rochdale last night.

"The winter nights are now well and truly upon us and while we do not wish to alarm people unnecessarily, we are asking people to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings as it is now dark most days by around 4pm.

"People can take steps to try and avoid becoming victims of crime, by taking advantage of CCTV and well-lit areas wherever possible and ensuring that any detection devices such as tracking devices on phones and cars are activated if items are stolen."

If anyone sees any suspicious activity they wish to report, please contact police in Oldham on 0161 856 8635 or call 101.
