Lisa Stansfield re-emerges from the creative shadows to play an intimate gig

Date published: 21 November 2012

Lisa Stansfield re-emerged from the creative shadows to play a special show in Manchester last night (Tuesday 20 November).

Lisa is the genuine article, a local girl who became a star with an extraordinarily successful career, the artist that defined a generation.

The choice of the intimate venue that is Sound Control, Manchester was inspired and an appreciative audience loved every minute of her set.

Lisa was quickly into the groove with 'Can't Dance', 'Set Your Loving Free' and 'Mighty Love' before rounding off an impressive introduction with 'Never, Never Gonna Give You Up'.

Her voice has lost none of its texture and with 'All Woman', a number one single from the double platinum album 'Real Love', Lisa had the hairs on the backs of necks standing.

'Live Together' and Can't Dance' concluded the set and Lisa left the stage to rapturous applause and enthusiastic shouts for more; she duly obliged with an encore of 'Down in the Depths' before finishing with what is probably her best known song, her first UK number-one single, 'All Around the World'.

Brit Award winning Lisa, who boasts nearly 20 million album sales and a string of Top 10 UK and European hits, has been hard at work on a seventh studio album which is now nearing completion - details will be released shortly.

Forever pushing the creative boundary, Lisa is currently filming a major motion picture based around the Northern Soul phenomenon, due for release in 2013.

Last night's intimate show is expected to act as a curtain raiser for a likely full tour next year.
