Mr Pidgeon and Mr Butterworth spent the week visiting an Egyptian Secondary School called El Saddatt Preparatory School. They went into school, meeting with staff and students to prepare to work with them on a three year programme. It was a fabulous week and we have been busily planning some joint activities for the schools. We will be having an Egypt Day on Thursday 6 December for our young people to get involved in the programme.

Parental Survey 2012 - the parental surveys are now being sent home to parents/ carers please return to school on the date shown on your survey, responses will be collated and results circulated before Christmas. Thank you for your support.

Christmas Fair — Please find details included in todays information about the Christmas Fair. Please note a change of date: FRIDAY 7 DECEMBER 10.00 - 12.00. All funds this year will be put towards purchasing a hoist for inclusive use at Oulder Hill Leisure Centre Complex and a wheelchair roundabout.

A non uniform day was held across key stages 3 & 4 on FRIDAY 23 NOVEMBER. In exchange for wearing no uniform we requested items such as chocolate bars, cakes, gifts for raffles and tombolas were donated to sell at the Christmas Fair – please continue to send in any donations until Friday 7 December -again thank you for your support!

Key stage 4 news - we have been remembering all the soldiers who have died in the line of duty. SEB and 4B have made special collages in honour of them. Mr Alcock is growing a moustache to raise money for prostate and testicular cancer. If you would like to donate money please send it into school in an envelope labelled ‘Mr Alcock—Movember’.

All KS4 students and staff have been very busy producing a wide variety of gifts to sell at our Christmas Fair. Mrs Bennett took her Animal Care Groups to Pets at home to look at the different animals that people can have as pets. Miss Greenhalgh organised an interview day for her Careers groups . Look how smart they all looked. The interviewers were all extremely impressed with how our students performed. Well done!

Key stage 3 news - Year 7 blue were shown how to use a pillar drill, Chelsea, Isaac, Ciaran and Patrick all tried using the drill independently for the 1st time.

Akasha, Jacob, Jason, Rahim and Sophie went to Gordon Riggs in Todmorden to look at Christmas decorations for their research, the plan is to make their own from the ideas they gained in the visit.

Sophie enjoyed her first session at Tai—Chi she did Tibetan meditation and the sleeping dragon, she really enjoyed it!

The pupils in the lilac room have been shopping for tuckshop goodies and Matthew has been horseriding, he loved it!

Year 8/9 sampled hot chocolate and muffins to keep us warm in winter just like Winnie the Witch and Wilbur! The lilac room made parkin to celebrate bonfire night. Kurtis, Sidney and Sabrina visited the All in One garden centre they looked at all the Christmas displays, chatted to Charlie the Parrot and looked at all the other animals.

6th Form news - The Catering group have been working really hard at Hopwood Hall College as part of their college links programme. The group have been making a range of dishes such as quiche, curries and soups. They have been developing skills such as chopping and mixing. Staff have been really impressed with the enthusiasm shown by all students each week.

The Yoga group have been learning to keep fit using hula hoops. Jobie has shown extreme flexibility and managed to keep two hoops moving round his body at the same time.

In Lifeskills the clothing and care group have been learning to identify their own clothes sizes. This week a group of all girls visited outlets in Rochdale to be measured and had an opportunity to make a purchase. The group behaved very maturely on the visit and two students left very happy with their purchases.

The Friday Art group have been working really well on their portrait project. The group have been following instructions and have as a result produced work to be proud of. Well done everyone!
