Over 50 students, both youth and adult, from the across the borough received their qualification certificates from Derek O’Toole (Principal of Hopwood Hall College), Jill Nagy (Chief Executive of Rochdale Training) and Anjam Rashid (Chair of KYP) having achieved on KYP programmes during the last 12 months.
The students achieved a variety of qualifications ranging from Entry Level 1 through to Advanced Apprenticeships at Level 3.
Sharon Trottman-Green, an unemployed single parent, successfully completed a Child Care Level 1 qualification commented: “It was an enjoyable evening, I was deeply touched that we were given the opportunity to have our certificates presented rather than posted to us.”
Sharon has taken up voluntary work at Barnados and would like to progress to a Level 2 or 3 childcare course in order to gain sustainable employment in this sector.
Zulf Ahmed, Director of Learning and Skills for KYP, said: “The night was all about recognising the success of our learners and to give them the opportunity to delight in their achievement in front of their friends and family.
"Since December last year KYP has increased the volume of its provision thanks to the support of its partner’s Hopwood Hall College and Rochdale Training. We have also delivered the PTTLs course to volunteers and staff who want to teach adults.
"I am really pleased for the learners that have completed their qualifications and wish them success in the future”.
