There was a well attended Remembrance Parade on Sunday morning morning in Milnrow.
The Milnrow Band led the parade of church and other dignitaries and local youth organisations to Milnrow Memorial Park.
More people than ever this year surrounded the memorial for the service conducted by the Reverends Robin Usher and Graham Lindley.
A two minute silence was observed at 11.00am.
Milnrow Band accompanied the hymns Oh God our Help, Eternal Father and Love Divine, after which the various organisations performed the laying of the wreaths.
The wreath for Milnrow Band was laid by 3-year-old Isla Connell assisted by band member Donna Towse.
A spokesman for Milnrow Band said: "As the service reached it's conclusion and as if in thanks, right on cue the plinth and bronze statue of the first world war soldier was illuminated by bright sunlight.
"Yes we will remember them."
