Stop milking motorists

Manchester Police and Crime Commissioner candidate Steven Woolfe
Prospective Police and Crime Commissioner Steven Woolfe has promised to stop motorists being used as "cash cows" in Greater Manchester.
"The area has almost 240 fixed speeding cameras and I do not believe these yellow monsters are the way to deal with speeding motorists. Drivers see them, slow down and as soon as they out of range, speed up again," said Steven, who is contesting the role for UKIP.
"Dangerous or careless driving kills and a camera on a stick has no system of evaluating it. "Speeding" and "safe speed" are two different concepts.
"There may be a need for speed cameras at some accident blackspots but not otherwise and the money currently spent on maintenance could be ploughed back into the budget," he said.
"These cameras have alienated the majority of law-abiding folk and it is important that this good will is regained so that the police and public can work together," added Steven.
