Man bailed following death of Callum Hilton

Date published: 07 November 2012

A man arrested following the death of Callum Hilton has been bailed.

At about 6.30pm on Saturday 3 November 2012, police in Bury were called to Stand Lane in Radcliffe following reports a teenage boy had been in collision with a car.

Officers attended and established a scene outside the Hawthorn Hotel where the collision occurred.

Callum Hilton, 16, from the Middleton area, was out with three other friends at the time. He and one of his friends were crossing Stand Lane intending to go into the hotel to ask for directions to a house party in Bury.

His friend had just crossed the road safely when the car collided with Callum and did not stop at the scene.

On Sunday 4 November 2012, a 32-year-old man was arrested in the Radcliffe area of Bury on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has now been bailed until 3 December 2012 pending further enquiries.

Police are continuing to appeal to anyone with information to call 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
