Three injured by fireworks
Date published: 06 November 2012
Three people have been injured in incidents involving fireworks on Bonfire Night.
Firefighters from Rochdale Fire Station were called to Kildare Crescent, Kirkholt, just before 8pm.
A North West Ambulance Service crew was at the scene first and reported that a casualty had burns to their face.
Firefighters arrived shortly after and discovered that three people had burns.
The crew discovered the three people had suffered their injuries at a bonfire just around the corner on Ludgate Street.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which involved a wheelie bin on some open land.
The extent of the people's injuries is not known at this stage.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer Jim Owen said: "Obviously this is devastating for the people involved and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service hates to see anyone injured.
"This time of year, knowing where your children are has to be a really important aspect of parenting - lots of nights where you might not know where they are or what they're doing but please don't let this be one of them."
