Hopwood Hall College backs ‘Living Wage Week’

Date published: 06 November 2012

Hopwood Hall College is proud to support this week’s first-ever Living Wage Week.

It is joining employers, faith organisations and community groups all over the country to mark the week and show its commitment to the on-going campaign to ensure all employees receive a minimum Living Wage hourly rate of £7.20.

The College is a leading employer in the North West. It employs some 500 members of staff at its sites in Rochdale and Middleton - teachers, administrators, security, catering and cleaning staff and many others - all of whom receive £7.20 per hour or more.

Explains Derek O’Toole, the College Principal: “Hopwood’s ethos is all about mutual respect and equality of opportunity not only for our students, but also for our staff. In order to provide a great learning environment we want each member of staff to feel properly valued and paid for the work they do.”
