Foodbank donations

Harvest Assembly Friday 2 November Thank you for your generosity towards the food collection which has been collected by the Rochdale Foodbank, a local charity set up to support the homeless people of Rochdale.

Parent-Teacher meetings Parent-teacher meetings will take place between 1pm and 4pm on Monday 5 November and Friday 9 November. Please sign up for an appointment this week with your child’s class teacher and keep to the appointment times given to you. The meetings will be taking place in the school hall.

Children’s Liturgy There is now a children’s liturgy at the 9.30am Sunday Mass at St. John’s every week. This has got off to a good positive start over the past couple of weeks and the children have been asked to find out about the Gospel for the following week and to feed back to the group. The children are also learning hymns and songs about their faith with sign language as well singing. Over the weeks the children will present the songs after Communion at the Mass.

Parent View Parents and carers are used to receiving parent questionnaires from school on a regular basis. What we would like parents to do now instead is to go onto the OFSTED website www.ofsted.gov.uk and follow links to ‘Parent View’. This is a forum where you may leave your constructive comments about the school your child attends. It is easy to register.

Here at St. John’s we welcome your positive and constructive comments and invite you to register on ‘Parent View’. Of course if there are any problems that you wish to speak to us about, do not hesitate to call in at school and ask to speak with Mr Morgan or another senior member of staff if you prefer.

Golden Grin Award Our Nursery has been awarded Gold in the Golden Grin Award for the 5th year running as part of the healthy eating initiative in schools.

Schools are invited to join the scheme to help reduce tooth decay. To attain the Gold award, we had to reach six targets which included providing sugar free drinks, discouraging sugary treats and snacks and educating the children on good oral hygiene.

Where is Wally? Last week Wally was in Canada. Children who research the country where Wally goes will always receive ‘smiley’ stickers.

Wedding Congratulations Congratulations to Miss Seddon who became Mrs Robinson on Saturday 20 October after marrying Mr Chris Robinson.

After their wedding celebrations they spent their honeymoon in Scotland.

Congratulations and best wishes to you both for a long and happy marriage.

Certificate Awards Awards went to Classes Rec/1 and 2 for highest attendance and the merit award went to Class 1 for good behaviour and effort.

Golden book awards The Golden Book awards are for children have tried their best in all areas with politeness and respect.
