UKIP surge in the North West
Date published: 31 October 2012
Polling figures released today show that UKIP has left the Lib Dems lagging way behind in the North West.
The survey by TNS reveals that if a General Election was held now UKIP would get 14% of the poll with the Lib Dems on just 7%.
And it places the Euro-sceptic Party snapping at the heels of the Conservatives, who are only 4% ahead on 18%.
“We are the fastest growing political party in the country and we are particularly strong in the North West,” said local MEP Paul Nuttall.
“This important poll shows that our commonsense policies resonant with the electorate and there is no doubt that we are still on our way up.
“The future for the Lib Dems in this country is plainly bleak and nowhere more than in the North West,” said Mr Nuttall, UKIP Deputy Leader.
“A national newspaper survey in April put us on 11%, neck and neck with the Lib Dems and here we are now 7 % ahead of them in the North West,” he added.
