This week sees Year 7 families invited into school to participate in our ‘Treasure Trail’ event on Wednesday 7 November. All Year 7 learners have received letters over the past few weeks and we ask that you try and return your reply forms as soon as possible so that we can anticipate numbers. Every child in attendance with a family member will receive a free reading book and a bag of ‘goodies’. Sessions take place at 3.30pm until 5.00pm and then from 7.00pm until 8.30pm. There is also an additional session led by Norman Warwick of ‘Just Poets’ from 2.15pm until 3.15pm. Please contact Mr. DeCourcey or Ms. Yorke for more details.

Many thanks to pupils of All Saints Primary School who came along and joined us for our ‘Spooky Stories’ event on Tuesday 30th October. The 60 learners who took part in a story-telling session and a chalk and charcoal art workshop as part of our seasonal fun. Each learner left with a bag of resources and spooky postcards. Thank you to Ms. Murtagh and Ms. Cubberley for leading the session.

Tickets for our show, ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ are now on sale from the CEPA office at break times, lunch times and after school. Our show takes place on Tuesday 27 November and Wednesday 28th November at 7.00pm at Rochdale Sixth Form College Theatre. Tickets are available in advance only. Please contact Mr. DeCourcey or Mr. Mvula for more details. We hope that you can come along and support our show.

‘The Lion, the witch and the Wardrobe’ Activity Resource Packs are now available for purchase if you would like to complete some fun learning activities at home. Priced at £3.00 they make an ideal present and are filled with fun games and activities for a rainy day. If you would like to purchase a copy, please see either Mr. DeCourcey or Mr. Mvula.

CALL Learners have been issued with a large project based homework task this week. Please can parents ensure that learners spend time looking at the task at home and undertaking elements of it at regular intervals over the next few weeks. We value your support in this matter as it helps learners to grow and develop.

Letters have been issued for a visit to Pendle Sculpture Park on Saturday 10 November. The visit is open to learners from all years and features a visit to Pendle Heritage Centre, followed by a tour of the new Sculpture Trail. Outdoor wear and sensible walking footwear are advised. Please see Mr. DeCourcey for a letter as soon as possible.

Many thanks to the parents and families of our CALL learners who joined us for ‘The new Pioneers’ family event at Touchstones over the half term. The session took place on Thursday 25 October from 10.30am until 3.30pm and FPHS learners work took prime place across the stalls and showcases. Many thanks to Cat Jessop and Cartwheel Arts for their support.

Copies of our Arts Community Event Calendar have been distributed across Rochdale to various primary schools and community hubs. We hope that you will take a moment to have a look at it and consider joining in. There are a wide range of events for all the family throughout the course of the year.
