Pharaoh who died after being savaged by two bull terriers in Springfield Park
A dog that was savaged by two Staffordshire Bull Terriers in Springfield Park died on Saturday.
The incident happened at 4.40pm on Friday 26 October and the dog's owner, Leona Bowker, is appealing for witnesses.
Leona said: "The two bull terriers were off their leads and pounced on my dog, Pharaoh. They tossed him about like a rag doll and ripped his insides destroying his organs... he didn't have a chance."
Leona says the dogs were with a young woman age 16 to 19 wearing a vest and leggings. Leona said: "She had longish dark hair and a slender figure. One dog was tan and the other black and white."
Leona added: "Some people may say it's only a dog, but he wasn't, he was my baby, my friend and part of my family. He was always happy to see me and we never fell out. A joy in my life as been taken."
Leona has now started a campaign to raise awareness of the danger dogs can pose when not under control in public places. Her friend Sara Burton said: "They need catching before this happens again, heaven forbid there could be small children around too next time or another defenceless small family pet."
