Michael Winstanley, Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) candidate for Greater Manchester, has today given his word to local people that he/she will fight a clean an honest election campaign.
Michael Winstanley has signed a clean campaign pledge which sets out his/her commitments to local people and encourages local people to expect the highest standards of all candidates.
Michael Winstanley has written to all the candidates standing in Greater Manchester urging them to sign up as well so that local people can have full confidence in the election campaign.
Commenting Local Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner candidate Michael Winstanley said: "‘Police and Crime Commissioners will lead the fight to cut crime, stand up for victims and provide democratic accountability for our police. It is a position of trust and responsibility. It is vital that the election campaign in Greater Manchester does nothing to damage people’s faith in policing.
"In signing this pledge I have made a public declaration that I will fight a clean, fair and honest campaign. The people of Greater Manchester deserve nothing less. I’m calling on all my fellow candidates to sign this pledge too, that way everyone in Greater Manchester can have confidence in this election and hold all candidates to account."
