Rochdale Sixth Form College welcome the Lesbian & Gay Foundation

Date published: 26 October 2012

Rochdale Sixth Form College showed its support for young gay, lesbian and bisexual people recently, welcoming The Lesbian and Gay Foundation through the College doors, as part of a North West campaign to mark International Coming Out Day.

Equipped with a pink wardrobe, the charity team invited Rochdale students to get their picture taken, to symbolise ‘coming out’.

Photographs will be displayed on the website, to show the students support for the cause, and send a positive message to other young people.

Laura Ainscow, drama teacher and Equality and Diversity Coordinator at Rochdale Sixth Form College comments: “We’re really pleased to be part of this worthwhile campaign, which is all about empowering young gay, lesbian and bisexual people – and reminding them that support and advice is available for those who need it, both from the college and charities like The Lesbian and Gay Foundation.

"We feel this campaign complements the ethos of Rochdale Sixth Form College and that all our young people are equal and diverse and this should be celebrated.”
