New local Council Tax Benefit scheme
Date published: 25 October 2012
A new local Council Tax Benefit scheme will replace the current national scheme in April 2013.
In Rochdale decisions about who gets Council Tax Support and how much will have to be made by the Council.
Everyone currently entitled to council tax benefit, except for current and future council tax benefit claimants of pension credit age, could be affected. Other residents may also be affected by the proposed changes as they may move onto benefit in the future.
Current and future council tax benefit claimants of pension credit age are protected from the changes and will continue to receive financial support based on the government’s national council tax benefit scheme.
