Police have issued CCTV footage showing the moment a teenage boy was assaulted in Rochdale.
Officers have already issued a witness appeal to catch the man who attacked the 15-year-old, but moving footage of the incident has now come to light.
It happened between 5.00pm and 6.00pm on Saturday 15 September 2012 on Platting Lane, Kirkholt.
The 15-year-old victim was walking down the road towards Queensway when he was approached from behind by a light-coloured hatchback car.
It pulled up alongside him and a man got out of the passenger seat and punched the victim twice in the face without warning, knocking him to the floor. As he struggled to get up the offender then kneed him in the face before getting back into the car and driving off.
The boy suffered a broken jaw in the attack and was treated at hospital.
Detective Constable Crystal O'Hara, of Rochdale CID, said: "As you can see from the footage, the car stopped as it passed the victim, someone got out and headed straight for the boy.
"He punched and kicked him and he suffered a really nasty injury as a result.
"I now want people to take a look at the footage and tell us what you know. It is not of great quality, but it might help jog someone's memory."
Anyone with information is asked to call Rochdale CID on 0161 856 8716 Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and quote crime reference: 139760K/12.
