Light up and keep burglars in the dark
Police are urging residents to light up ahead of the clocks going back this weekend.
Despite a reduction in burglary during the last 12 months, officers are warning residents that there is usually an increase in burglaries at this time of year.
By following simple advice such as timing lights to come on, locking doors and windows and putting an alarm on, residents can divert burglars away from their homes.
Throughout the dark nights, neighbourhood officers will be stepping up patrols in hotspot areas and knocking on the doors of homes that have been left insecure.
Known offenders will be targeted to deter them from committing crime and crime prevention advice will be distributed to residents.
To report suspicious activity, please contact Greater Manchester Police on 101. In an emergency, please dial 999.
