Boundary Commission publishes revised proposals for boundary changes
Date published: 17 October 2012

Simon Danczuk MP
The Boundary Commission has published revised proposals for boundary changes in Parliamentary constituencies in England.
Previously, the Commission had proposed breaking up Rochdale into 'Rochdale North and Rawtenstall' and 'Rochdale South' (which included Shaw and Royton) constituencies, with the Heywood & Middleton constituency becoming Middleton, incorporating most of Heywood and also Chadderton.
This could solve a headache for Simon Danczuk, whose existing Rochdale seat was being broken up and potentially faced a selection battle with Labour colleagues in neighbouring constituencies for one of the seats in the area.
As the sitting MP in the Rochdale constituency, Mr Danczuk will be confident of being selected as the Labour candidate for the Rochdale Constituency in the 2015 General Election, which should virtually guarantee him keeping his seat until at least 2020 given the unpopularity of the current coalition government.
The consultation on the revised proposals is now open and you can have your say on them until 10 December 2012.
