The children at St John with St Michael Primary School in Shawforth are holding a cake bake on Wednesday 17 October to raise funds to pay for the postage of filled shoe boxes for The Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child Charity.
Each year we ask the children to bring in items from home such as soap, hair clips, gloves bangles, small toys and colouring items.
The children wrap shoe boxes in Christmas paper and then ensure that each box has a mixture of items in them, to then be sent to children in other countries.
The children in class 3 are writing letters of persuasion as part of their literacy lessons, so they have wrote to all the local businesses in and around our school asking for their help either with cake bake items or items to put into the shoe boxes.
Our aim this year is to make up 50 shoe boxes that way we can make 50 children in these poorer countries smile at Christmas time!
If anyone would like to help with our appeal they can ring school on 01706 852614.
