LEAF (Local Environmental Action Fortnight)
This week some of our Yr 3 children did a mini-beast hunt in the school grounds, Yr 4 have been pond dipping in Hopwood Woods and some Yr 6 children have been investigating beehives in Heaton Park on Friday. On Friday some of the Eco-Committee will be attending the Rochdale Eco-Conference at the Town Hall.
There will be another week of activities in the Spring for other classes to be involved in.
Book Fair
The Book Fair opens on Monday 15 October for 4 nights. This will be held in the school hall from 3.15 – 3.45pm each evening.

Year 6 Trip 
On Thursday 18 October, Year 6 are visiting Manchester City Art Gallery. They will be studying Victorian paintings.

Class Assemblies
This year we are inviting you to share your child’s class assembly. Assemblies will take approx 15mins. Dates for this half term:
Tuesday 16 October
1G – Mrs. Gilbertson 9.15am
5F – Mr. Farrall 1.15pm

Wear Something Pink
On Friday 19 October, please support school in our attempt to raise money for Breast Cancer Research by wearing something pink and bringing in a donation of 50p. The official day is 26 but we are on holiday that week.

Let’s Grow
We are still collecting the Morrisons vouchers.

Castleton Children’s Centre
The free ‘Stay and Play Sessions’ are here at St. Edward’s on Wednesday mornings 9am-10.30am.

Chinese Takeaway Day
The kitchen are having a Chinese Takeaway Day on Friday, 19 October. There is a menu on the back of the newsletter. If your child would like to have lunch on that day you will need to fill in the slip on the back of the newsletter. Lunches are £1.85. Munch lunches will be available as normal on this day.

Dinner Money
Dinners are now £1.85 per day - £9.25 per week which needs to be paid on a Monday morning.
Money envelopes are on sale from the school office for £1.50.
There is a copy of the menus on the school portal. Next week we are on Week 1.

Music Lessons
Fees for this half term are now due - £17.10. Please also pay any outstanding fees into school as soon as possible in order for lessons to continue. Thank you.

Date for Diary
On Thursday 1 November, we are holding a Halloween Bingo night at 6.15pm in the school hall. More details next week.

New Parent Open Days
There are two open days for parents of children starting school next September, 2013.
Wednesday 31 October at 1.30pm and Tuesday 6 November at 10am.
