Falinge Park High School
On the 3 October, pupils from across the school were offered the chance to meet acclaimed award winning children’s horror author, Darren Shan. The trip was organized by the school Librarian Miss Murtagh, and she took pupils to the event at Waterstones Book store in Manchester. After listening to a few readings from his new book: Zom-B, as well as some sneak previews from his next book, a question and answer session followed.
The following pupils thoroughly enjoyed the visit; Kate Page, Rhys Thomas, Joe O’Shea, Danny Smith, Aleena Ali, Rachael McAllister, Alyse Costello, Georgia Berry, Faysal Qureshi and Kaitlyn Walker. Miss Kowalski (3rd in Science) also accompanied the trip. Shan’s terrifying tales certainly put us in the mood for Halloween!
Technology Young Designers is a club that has been set up for keen and enthusiastic pupils who have an eye for great design. The club runs every Wednesday afternoon and has so far recruited a niche collection of pupils who want to go the extra mile. By attending the club, pupils have been able to explore their creativity and discover how products are designed and made, whether it is a simple school chair to something for a home; a similar design process is undertaken. The purpose of the group is to allow pupils to gain extra experience in Technology and develop skills that will give them a rare opportunity to do an extra GCSE in the subject. Anyone interested should see Mr. Wadhia.
