St Thomas Guides dressed as Where’s Wally
Guides from Milnrow, Littleborough, Smithybridge and Healey descended on Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena last Saturday (6 October 2012) to see some of music’s top acts perform at Girlguiding UK’s BIG GIG 2012.
Conor Maynard, JLS, Little Mix, Scouting For Girls and Cover Drive were among the stars on show at the music event, which has been held exclusively for guiding members for 12 years.
The event was hosted by popular television presenter Ceallach Spellman, who was suggested by a huge number of girls on Girlguiding UK’s internet forum.
The Guides said they particularly enjoyed Ceallach Spellman, Lawson and Scouting for Girls. They loved the atmosphere in the arena, everyone was dressed up with flashing bunny ears and Mohicans!
Chloe, a Guide with Milnrow aged 11 said: "The BIG GIG was so fun. I lost my voice I screamed so much!"
The audience also showed they were in fine voice too as they were led by Popchoir in a mass singalong of the Miley Cyrus hit 'Make Some Noise’.
Sarah Lemonofides, Guide Leader in Littleborough, said: "The girls have wanted to go to the BIG GIG for some time so they were absolutely over the moon when they found out we had tickets. For many of the girls it was a real adventure as this was the first time they have been to a live gig on this scale and the atmosphere was amazing."
The BIG GIG concert is for Girlguiding UK members aged between 10 and 14. This year around 22,000 girls attended the two concerts, and previous events have been held in London’s Wembley Arena and Birmingham’s LG Arena.
