Man found at the bottom of stairs with serious head injuries

At around 9.50pm on Monday 8 October 2012, police were called to a house at The Thimbles, Rochdale following reports a 38-year-old man had been found at the bottom of stairs with serious head injuries.
Officers attended and arrested a 29-year-old woman on suspicion of assault. She remains in police custody for questioning.
The man was taken to hospital suffering from a fractured skull and is currently in a critical condition.
