Woman robbed of her car

Date published: 09 October 2012

A woman was forced to the floor during a violent robbery of her car as she was returning home in Castleton.

At about 8.15pm on Sunday 30 September 2012, the 58-year-old woman was parking her white Ford Fiesta on Maden View off Manchester Road.

Two men then confronted her, tried to pull her car keys from her and during the struggle the pair pushed her to the floor.

They then stole the keys and drove off in the car.

The victim recalls that moments before the robbery she saw a Toyota Corolla being driven past her.

Officers believe this is the same Toyota Corolla that was stolen from Trinity Street in Middleton sometime between 10pm and 10.20pm on Saturday 29 September 2012.

The men who stole the Fiesta are described as being white, in their 20s, about 5ft 7in to 5ft 8in tall, and of wiry build.

Police Constable Phil Booth said: "The victim of the car robbery has been left badly shaken up.

"While keeping an open mind, we are linking this incident with the theft of the Toyota.

"I would urge any witnesses to either incident to call us, or indeed anyone who can help us should get in touch."

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 4669 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
