Smith Street will closing to traffic for Metrolink continues work
Date published: 05 October 2012
On 8 October 2012, Smith Street will close to traffic between the Council’s new office building (Number One Riverside) and Drake Street for a period of 5/6 weeks. This is to enable the Metrolink contractor to undertake essential work to Smith Street and to waterproof the bridge deck over the River Roch. The access ramp to the bus station car park will be accessible by the normal route via the ramp from Smith Street.
As a result of the closure, Faulkner Street and River Street will no longer be accessible from Smith Street, and access from Faulkner Street onto Smith Street will be closed.
The one-way traffic flow arrangement on River Street will be temporarily removed, allowing Drake Street businesses to access/load and enabling access to the Lower Drake Street car park facility. Traffic will enter/exit River Street from Water Street, with priority signing in place giving priority to vehicles travelling downhill.
