En Musikalsk Aften Med (A Musical Evening With) Førre Musikk Korps
Date published: 05 October 2012
On Thursday 11 October Wardle High School will be hosting a musical evening in school with special guests FØrre Musikk Korps, a youth brass band from Norway.
Førre Musikk Korps are from the West-coast of Norway, just outside the city of Haugesund. They are a Brass Band for youths aged between 10 to 19 years conducted by Jakob Birk.
Førre Musikk Korps are staying in Manchester during their visit to England and plan to enjoy a dinner and rehearsal with Wardle High School’s musical groups prior to providing a joint evening of fantastic entertainment.
Roar Sørensen, leader of Førre Musikk Korps expressed his enthusiasm towards the evening saying 'We are really looking forward to this concert!'
Janet Emsley, Director of Performing Arts, who has been liaising with the band, said,
'We are very excited about the forthcoming concert with Førre Musikk Korps Youth Band. We will be welcoming them in the afternoon, rehearsing and enjoying tea with the young people before performing a joint concert in the evening. We have welcomed musical groups from many different countries in the past: Romania, Japan and Australia to name but a few. Our young people always enjoy and benefit from the experience of music from different cultures.'
Please see below for the itinerary for the night. Highlights on the evening include Wardle Junior Band who achieved the National Union of Teachers Infant and Juniors Award at the Music for Youth National Festival at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham earlier this year.
