Schools in Rochdale are being offered the chance to win a visit from Premier League footballer Michael Owen as part of Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity’s ‘Be Seen in Green’ day.
The fundraising day ask pupils to make a small donation to the charity in return for being able to wear something green to school.
Schools registering before the 29th October will be entered into a draw to be in with a chance of receiving a VIP visit from Michael Owen, who will personally thank pupils for supporting the hospital and will take part in a Q and A session.
All participating schools will be sent a free fundraising pack and every school that registers will be entered into an additional prize draw to win £250 of stationery from Ryman.
Be Seen in Green is being supported by Ryman, the UK’s leading specialist stationery and office supplies company, whose chairman is Theo Paphitis, star of BBC’s ‘Dragons’ Den’.
Michael Owen commented: “I am looking forward to visiting the winning schools to thank them for taking part in Be Seen in Green Day and helping such a worthy cause as Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity.”
Maurice Watkins CBE, Charity Chairman said: “We hope that lots of schools sign up for Be Seen in Green Day and help our charity. For just a small donation school children can have fun wearing something green, while making a big difference to the lives of our young patients.”
The support of the charity means that the hospital can provide additional resources that make life easier for patients and their families who use the hospital.
The charity has three main areas of work:
- To support research projects to improve our understanding of children’s illness
- To help create an environment that’s more child friendly
- To provide state of the art equipment for diagnosis and treatment
