Where is Wally?

This week Wally has been to the Vatican City, Rome.

Children are given clues in assembly on Friday morning as to the whereabouts of Wally. Once children work out where he is, they have to provide ten facts in sentences of the area.

Spotlight on Grammar:
This week we are having a go at writing a form of Japanese poetry called HAIKU. Each poem contains three lines only. The first line with 5 syllables, the second has 7 and the third line has 5, for example:
An old silent pond...
A frog jumps into the pond,
Splash! Silence again.

Sacramental Programme arrangements:
Attention all children involved in the Sacramental programme this year.
They are mainly in Year 3! There is a meeting for parents/carers and the children on Wednesday 10 October at 3pm here at school.

Attendance at the 9.30am Mass on Sunday 14 October is very important as the children will be presented formally in order that they may receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Holy Communion in 2012/13.

Labelling of school clothing:
Please ensure that all school clothing has a name label to help staff identify clothes left behind in the playground and other areas of the school.

School Council members:
Our new School Council members have been elected for this school year.

They are: Grace and Terrence from year 3; Natalia and Joshua from year 4; Maryam, Vera and Amory from year 5; Oceane, Ana, Ethisham and Mohammed from year 6.

We have eleven School Council members, three of which are from last year and will remain members in order to help the new members develop their roles.

Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning:
A huge thank you to everyone who supported the Macmillan Coffee Morning, you helped to raise £207.59 which will pay for hours of MacMillan time, supporting people through their illness.

Thank you to Minatullah, Vera, Jakub, Nell and Wisdom for your help on the day.

Attendance:
Whole school attendance for last week was a good 96.64%, very well done to everyone; we have made a good start to the year but would like it to improve.

Please remember if you are late getting up in the morning it is not an excuse to keep the children away from school. We would rather the children be late than miss a day of school so please bring them as soon as they have eaten breakfast.

Certificate awards:
Awards went to Class 5 for highest attendance and Class 3 for good behaviour in and around the school.

Golden book awards:
The Golden Book awards are for children have tried their best in all areas with politeness and respect.

Foundation 2: Jason and Kayam
Reception/1: Larissa and Joshua
Class 1: David and Alisa
Class 2: Jacob and Emmanuel
Class 3: Ebony and Aleena
Class 4: Jessica and Keir
Class 5: Jennifer and Jakub
