Teenager attacked outside bar

Date published: 03 October 2012

A teenage girl sustained a dislocated knee and a suspected fractured jaw after being attacked outside a Rochdale bar.

The assault happened sometime between 2am and 3am on 23 September 2012.

The girl, 18, was enjoying a night out with friends and at the time was outside the Dali Bar on Packer Street having a cigarette.

She was approached by a group of people she did not recognise, one of whom was a woman who grabbed the victim by the face and throat.

The teenager cannot remember anything further other than waking up with a searing pain in her right leg which was bent and twisted. She did not see the offender again but the police and an ambulance crew was called and she was taken to hospital, where she was treated for a dislocated right knee, a suspected fractured jaw and bruising to her face and neck.

Her attacker is described as being a white woman, in her early 20s, with long blonde hair and about 5ft 9in tall. She was of a slim build and wearing a patterned floral top with no sleeves, tight dark trousers and white shoes.

Police are now appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Ruth Thompson, of Rochdale CID, said: "This young woman was minding her own business enjoying a night out when she was attacked by another young woman.

"The victim cannot remember exactly what happened but woke up with some quite nasty injuries consistent with being assaulted.

"We therefore need to piece together the events leading up to this and identify the offender for this senseless assault. I would appeal to anyone who was either in the bar at the time, stood outside or who has information about what happened to call us."

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4621 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
