The school photographer will be back in school on Thursday 11 October to take final photographs of our Year 11 students. These will take place in the Hall. Please no excessive make up, make up wipes will be on hand. Proofs will be issued when received in school and photographs can again be ordered on line, or by post.
The first in a series of three HPV injections for Year 8 girls will take placeon Thursday 11 October in the Upper Year Centre. Please could all parental medical consent forms be returned to school as soon as possible, and handed in to Ms. Barlow’s Office (G23)
The European Day of Languages was celebrated during the week of September 26 with languages staff dressing in national costumes, international meals being served in the dining rooms, a variety of staff using languages in their classrooms and a quiz being held in tutor time. Pupils in Year 7 have also taken part in a poster competition.
Parents who would like information on how to help make decisions about post 16 Careers and Education are invited to attend a Future First event at Rochdale Town Hall on Wednesday 10 October 2012, from 4.00pm to 7.00pm. Our Year 11 students will be attending this event during the school day, and letters detailing this eventshould have already been brought home. Please could they be completed and handed in to Mrs Ellis in Pupil Reception. Sixth Forms, Sixth Form Colleges, Further Education Colleges, Universities, Apprenticeships and Training Providers will be showcasing what they have to offer. Well done to all the students who took part in the CEPA Word Competition this month. Three winners have been notified and we will publish their names next week. Look out for their photograph on our school website.
The casting of our school production of 'The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe' has been announced and a rehearsal timetable is being issued this week. Learners who still wish to be involved should see Mr Mvula as soon as possible.
Many thanks to all the primary school staff who joined us for our 'Project Hugo' INSET this week. Staff came from a range of schools and we are very excited by the potential of the project. We look forward to hearing about the developments of the project in the next few months.
Our new Community Arts Calendar has been published and distributed to local primary schools and community hubs. The calendar features a range of activities, workshops and shows for the next twelve months. We are delighted to announce that we are booked up for the 'Spooky Stories' and 'Shadow Puppetry' events in the next couple of months. Groups and primary classes should book events early top avoid disappointment. Copies of the calendar are also available electronically on our school website.
Year 7 CALL learners will be working on a Cooperative Festival Project on Monday 15 of October. Learners will be making a range of goods for a truly cooperative shop and work will be exhibited in a showcase over half term. Contact Mr De Courcey for further details.
Year 7 learners will receive a presentation by the Fire Service on Tuesday 16 of October on fire safety and bonfire night safety this week. Thanks to all the staff involved in the presentation. Contact Mr De Courcey for further details.
Tickets for our forthcoming show by 12 Degrees North Dance Company on 18 October at FPHS are now available, priced £5.00 for non-students. The regionally renowned company are performing at The Lowry and various arts establishments over the month. Catch the critically acclaimed show locally at FPHS whilst you can. Many thanks to all the parents, families and friends who joined us for our Open Day and Evening on Monday 1 October. The evening proved to be a great success and we were delighted by the positive feedback we received.
