Children turn over a new ‘green’ LEAF

Children from schools across the borough will be turning over a new environmental LEAF this autumn.
Hundreds of primary school pupils will take part in a series of interactive workshops aimed at promoting awareness of environmental issues and developing good ‘green’ habits for the future.
The first week will focus on activities covering major environmental themes from recycling and waste management to biodiversity and exploring the impact bees have on our world.
The first week of the LEAF programme will culminate with a conference and a festival.
The Eco-schools Conference in Rochdale Town Hall will celebrate the eco work done by the borough’s schools and offer opportunities to share ideas and learn from others.
The Woodland Festival is taking place at Hollingworth Lake Country Parkand a whole host of woodland related activities are planne.
The second LEAF week will take place next Spring giving students the chance to appreciate the changes that take place over winter and a range of new activities will be organised.
The events taking part during LEAF form part of a programme of activities taking place to mark the International Year of Co-operatives.
