Year 7 photographs were taken last week and students were issued with a proof of the photograph. These can be ordered directly with the company on line or by post. Orders are not accepted at school.

The school photographer will be back in school on Thursday 11 October to take final photographs of our Year 11 students. These will take place in the Hall. Please no excessive make up, make up wipes will be on hand. Proofs will be issued when received in school and photographs can again be ordered on line, or by post.

Our Open Evening takes place on Monday 1 of October from 6.45pm until 8.45pm and we look forward to seeing new faces as we open our doors to primary learners and their families. There will be displays and exhibitions from all our departments and an opportunity to learn about our dynamic and academically successful curriculum. Many thanks to the CEPA Learning Champions who joined us this week for their training session. The fourteen Year 8 learners will take part in a range of activities over the academic year and will use the CEPA Faculty space at lunchtimes for rehearsals and art work. Many thanks to the parents who joined us for the event too. We look forward to the help of the learners in our extensive community work.

Well done to all the learners who submitted entries for the recent CEPA Word Competition. We were inundated with entries and the winners will be announced this week. The standard was very high and we have been very impressed.

The latest copy of the ‘Create!’ magazine is now available to learners and on our school website. The edition features games and puzzles and the ticket order form for our forthcoming show, ’The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe’ which is to take place on the 27 and 28 November 2012 at Rochdale Sixth Form College.

Year 9 Dance Students have the opportunity to work with the nationally renowned Rambert Dance Company on Thursday 11 of October. The workshop will result in a chance to see the company perform live at The Lowry in the ‘Labyrinth of Love’ tour. See MsWystawnoha for more details.

Tickets for 12 Degrees North Dance Company Showcase are now available but please note that seats are extremely limited. They can be bought from the CEPA Office at breaktimes and lunchtimes in the next few weeks.

Bookmarks for our interesting and exciting literacy work has been distributed to all students in all years. Learners have received bookmarks which show students the range of reading techniques we use regularly in school on a daily basis and the purpose of each.

CALL learners received a special assembly this week outlining the highlights of the curriculum and discussing the rewards of consistent and high standard work. Learners have each received a water bottle for use in the classroom and we look forward to seeing the excellent work of Year 7 learners as they have made such an impressive start to the year.

Parents who would like information on how to help make decisions about post 16 Careers and Education are invited to attend a Future First event at Rochdale Town Hall on Wednesday 10 October 2012, from 4.00pm to 7.00pm. Our Year 11 students will be attending this event during the school day, and letters detailing this eventshould have already been brought home. Please could they be completed and handed in to Mrs Ellis in Pupil Reception. Sixth Forms, Sixth Form Colleges, Further Education Colleges, Universities, Apprenticeships and Training Providers will be showcasing what they have to offer.
