Heywood Bowling Club annual picnic
Date published: 25 September 2012
The Heywood Bowling Club annual picnic was held at Castleton BC.
After a hearty breakfast the 20 bowlers took part in a round robin competition to reach semi finals and a final. After a good preliminary round four members played their way into the semis.
During the interval, lunch was taken.
The first semi was played between Kay Rourke and John Mitchell, Kay eventually winning by 11 points to 8.
The second semi was played between father and son Phil and James Mainwaring a match which saw Phil beating James by 11 points to 3.
The final turned out to be the best match of the day in which Kay Rourke proved herself a worthy winner by scoring the 15 points needed to Phil Mainwarings 6.
After presentations, we all sat down to enjoy an excellent meal and a few drinks.
