Donations and fundraising

Firstly, on behalf of the pupils and staff we would like to thank those groups of families and friends of Redwood School who have raised sums of money during the past few months in a variety of fundraising projects. We have a number of projects in school which we will be looking to develop in the near future as a result of the generosity of these groups of people.

After School Clubs

Our first week of after school clubs has been very positive and well attended by our young people. Activities have included Splash, hydro, Cookery, Craft, Sensory Music, Football and others. For more information please contact Nicola Wright, Parent Partnership Co-ordinator.

Middleton Trampolining Club (MTC) has over 40 members, most of them competitive bouncers. Earlier this year MTC won £10,000.00 in Lottery Funding with the help of Link4Life! This is extremely exciting as now funding has been secured we can and are actively employing support staff to work with children and people with individual needs The sessions provided can also be used as respite for parents and carers, you can drop your kids/young adults off knowing that they can enjoy trampolining, socialising and making new friends in a fun and safe environment. These sessions are available to anyone of all ages and abilities. You can obtain more information on 07920 401784/Lisa or 07749 075888/Jane.

We recently enjoyed an Autumn walk, collecting leaves and twigs which they made into window decorations. Declan W read his first book ‘Who is it?’ this was an very big achievement for Declan—well done.

Year 7 Green went to Curry’s / PC world and Asda to look at 2D shapes as part of their Maths lesson.

Year 8/9 Orange made resources for the multi sensory French story- ‘A day trip to Paris’ A mixed group of Year 7, 8, 9 pupils tried out the new interactive ‘floor’. The pupils learned about colours. The floor displayed many pictures, it was amazing looking at Autumn leaves and the Ocean!

Jacob went horseriding. Pupils have been learning about forces and movement in Science, they experimented using parachutes dropped from a height and used the pushing movement playing a pirate game. In assembly Lucy showed pupils her gold and 2 silver medals she won for long jump and running.

6th Form News

Welcome to all our students old and new. The first few weeks in 6th Form have been very busy indeed. Students have started their timetables and are so far managing finding their way round the department and working really well in lessons.

5F had a transition meeting where parents/carers were invited to meet the Transition teams that will be working with them over the year.

A big thank you to all the parents that attended. We hope that you found it beneficial and hopefully working together we will make our young peoples transition from 6th Form to their future placement smooth.
