Ombudsman Services consults on publishing more data
Date published: 17 September 2012
Ombudsman Services, the organisation which handles complaints about the energy, communications and property sectors, has today announced that it is to share more information about the complaints it handles.
Chief Ombudsman Lewis Shand Smith says, ‘We intend to publish more of the data we hold on complaints for others to interpret. By doing so, we want to share the learning about the causes of complaints to help improve customer service.’
Ombudsman Services proposes to publish quarterly data updates on its website, and to provide information about named energy companies. The organisation currently publishes information in its Annual Report
Lewis Shand Smith say: “New systems will make it much easier in the future for us to publish information about the types of complaints we resolve.” He continues, ”There are a number of factors that need to be considered and we are keen to hear the views of our stakeholders to help us in our decisions on how best to provide the data we hold”.
The consultation runs from 17 September to 14 December 2012 and is available from the Ombudsman Services website.
