North West Liberal Democrats announce Police and Crime Commissioner Candidates
The Liberal Democrats have selected candidates in four of the five counties of the North West, and will select their fifth next week.
Former police officer Matt Gallagher will stand in the election for Police and Crime Commissioner in Greater Manchester.
In Lancashire Afzal Anwar of Pendle has been selected to be the party standard bearer in November.
In Merseyside members picked former Liverpool Council group Leader and two time Liverpool Parliamentary candidate Paula Keaveney.
In Cheshire Ainsley Arnold of Macclesfield got the Liberal Democrat nod.
Cllr Pru Jupe is expected to be confirmed as the candidate in Cumbria next week.
North West Liberal Democrat Chair Professor Jo Crotty said: “The Liberal Democrats have selected candidates from our strength in depth.
“They will stand on a distinctively Liberal Democrat platform and provide voters with a real choice.”
