A reminder that the price of a school meal has been increased to £1.85 per day with effect from 1st September 2012. Also could parents kindly make cheques for school dinners payable to Falinge Park High School.
Many thanks to all the students who joined us for a visit to Preston this weekend as we visit the Harris Gallery to look at the latest Costume Exhibition as part of the Preston Guild celebrations. 15 learners from across the school joined Mr. DeCourcey and staff to look at the dramatic costumes and to visit the Museum of Central Lancashire to look at theatre and entertainment artifacts of bygone years. Well done to all the leaners who took part!
Our latest edition of the Arts College magazine, ‘Create’! has been issued this week and copies will be given to Community Groups from Monday onwards. Electronic copies can be found on our school website at www.falingepark.com. The magazine features articles on our Summer school, recent productions and includes an extra-curricular Arts timetable so that learners can take part in regular clubs, bands and workshops’.
20 Year 8 learners have received letters inviting them to become Creative, expressive and performing Arts (C.E.P.A.) Champions. The training takes place on 25 September from 3.00pm until 5.00pm and we hope nominees can take part. Please ensure that you return your letter promptly to Mr. DeCourcey to let us know that you8 can get involved.
The latest edition of our ‘Footlights’ magazine was released this week for learners. Please ensure that you check your child’s bag for a copy. Further copies can be obtained directly from school.
CALL work from last year has been recycled and thanks to all the students who collected their books and projects. We wish to convey a hearty well done to all our current Year 8 learners as their work was put on display in the Hive Gallery at the Wheatsheaf Centre over the holidays, earning much praise from all the visitors. Many thanks also go to cartwheel Arts for their hard work and involvement in the project.
Auditions for our forthcoming show, ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ take place next week. Please see Mr. Mvula for more details and to find out how you can get involved.
Parents who would like information on how to help make decisions about post 16 Careers and Education are invited to attend a Future First event at Rochdale Town Hall on Wednesday 10 October 2012, from 4.00pm to 7.00pm. Our Year 11 students will be attending this event during the school day, and letters detailing this event will shortly be sent home. Sixth Forms, Sixth Form Colleges, Further Education Colleges, Universities, Apprenticeships and Training Providers will be showcasing what they have to offer.
