Cycling solicitor goes the ‘Extra Mile’ for charity

Date published: 10 September 2012

Rochdale solicitor, Peter Taylor in his best Brad Wiggins style, is to dust off his cycle clips and get on his bike in an attempt to raise money for charity. In a blatant attempt to take advantage of the ‘Wiggins Factor’ Peter says that he is even growing his sideburns!

Peter was prompted to do this because his brother Anthony lives at the Camphill Community in Milton Keynes. Camphill is a charitable organisation offering a caring and supportive quality of life for adults who might otherwise struggle to live in a more conventional social environment.

Peter is chairman of the Family Support Group, which is a large and active group of parents and siblings. At a recent meeting, they decided to undertake a cycling challenge by undertaking a 500 miles ride through Europe in order to raise money for the community.

The ride is an organised event co-ordinated by Extramile Challenges, a registered Charity with the prime objective of helping to raise money and donate funds to other charities. They do this by organising sponsored events; principally their annual 500-mile relay cycling Challenge in Europe, which Peter and the other three team-members will tackle.

Peter uses the gym occasionally but is not a cyclist and says that although he is looking forward to it, he expects that the event will take its toll on his aging and aching body.

Peter says that the Family Support Group has always been very supportive to Camphill Community and would like people to make a donation and also tell others about it so that its fantastic work can continue with those who often need lifelong support.

There is also a web page at www.localgiving.com, which is a charity that can support the event by adding the gift aid. This will add another 25% on top of any donation. Please follow the link below if you wish to support this event.

The cycle ride will take place from 21 to 23 September 2012.
