Metrolink work is on track
Date published: 07 September 2012
Work to extend Metrolink to Rochdale town centre is well under way, with new trams tracks being laid along Drake Street.
Over the next week, the track-laying will start on the southbound side of Drake Street, between the junctions of Oldham Road and Drake Street, and Milnrow Road, School Lane and Drake Street.
In order to complete this phase of work, this short section of Drake Street will have to be closed to traffic until the start of next year.
As a result, southbound traffic on Drake Street will be diverted left at Wet Rake Gardens along Oldham Road, turning right onto Milnrow Road to reach the junction of Milnrow Road, School Lane and Drake Street.
Local businesses and parking facilities will remain open as normal throughout. Pedestrian crossings will also be provided.
